Why should I know my ovulation day?A menstrual cycle includes certain days when the probability of conception is the highest - it is several days before ovulation and also one or two days after ovulation. The highest probability of conception is on the ovulation day.A woman who wants to get pregnant should know her ovulation day and it will help her get prepared for conception better. Otherwise, if a woman does not want to get pregnant, knowing her ovulation day will help her prevent an unwanted pregnancy. Most women do not know their ovulation day (luteal phase length) and this may result in the situation when a woman wants to get pregnant, but cannot do it for years. Naturally, it makes her undergo an expensive examination in a specialized clinic. Actually, the problem in most cases is that intercourse most often took place on days when no conception is virtually possible because she did not know her ovulation day.
How do I know my ovulation day?The ovulation day should be calculated. The simplest way to calculate your ovulation day is to use the following formula: "the last day of your menstrual cycle" minus 14 days. It will be your ovulation day and this method is called the calendar method. Unfortunately, the calendar method does not allow you to get a result that is precise enough: the organism of each woman is individual so the length of the menstrual cycle and also the ovulation day may differ from the most widespread values. Besides, the length of some women's menstrual cycles sometimes changes (it is called an irregular menstrual cycle). There are also other, more precise methods for calculating the ovulation day, for example, by the basal body temperature (BBT), by cervical mucus, by a blood test for progesterone, etc. Our program allows you to keep track of the maximum number of various methods (you can use only some of them) and it allows the program to calculate your ovulation day most precisely.
How do I use this program to calculate the ovulation day?To use our program to calculate your ovulation day, you should first create your calendar and enter data about your state EVERY DAY after that. The program will quite precisely calculate your ovulation day in not less than three menstrual cycles. To create your calendar: 1. Wait until your first menstruation day 2. Select the Calendar->New command in the main menu
3. You will be offered to enter a name for your calendar. For instance, enter your name and click Next
4. Enter the date of your first menstruation day and click Next. If you have observed step 1, there is no need to change this date.
5. Enter the average length of your cycle in days. If the next menstruation starts earlier or later, you can change this value at any time. Click Next
6. Enter your menstruation length in days (days with vaginal bleeding only) and click Next
7. Enter the length of your luteal phase, it is the initial approximate number of your ovulation day, it is quite possible that you will change this number later according to the result of calculations. If you do not know the number of your ovulation day, leave the default value. Click Finish.
You have created a personal calendar for calculating your ovulation day!
How do I enter data about my current state into the program? You should be patient enough to enter data about your state into the program during three or more cycles. Remember that the accuracy of the ovulation day calculation depends on how accurately you enter data about your state. To enter data about your state, you should: 1. Start the program. You will see your calendar after you start the program (if you have already created it) 2. Click the date in the calendar you want to enter data about your state for. Usually it is the current day if you enter this data every day. The current day has a black frame in the calendar.
3. You will see a dialog box with tabs where you should enter data about your state. Please enter data in no hurry carefully reading comments for the fields on the tabs. Fill out all fields on all six tabs.
4. After you enter all data, click ÎÊ This day will have the Recorded label on the calendar. If there are no labels on some days, these days were skipped (not recorded). To find out what the Recorded label and other labels look like, see the calendar legend.
Actual labels may differ from those shown in the picture because the way they look depends on the currently selected calendar theme. You can change the calendar theme after you select the View->Calendar Theme command in the main menu.
I have been scrupulously entering data about my state every day, how do I get the result? To find out your ovulation day (luteal phase length), switch to the Chart tab. To do it, click the Chart icon in the left part of the program window.
You will see three rows on the chart. You can find out the purpose of each of them by looking at the upper part of the tab. If you have been entering your data correctly, the chart should look similar to the one shown in the picture. You can see the days of your menstrual cycle in the lower part of the chart and the probability of conception in its left part. The day on which the rows abruptly increase is your ovulation day.
The lower part of the chart shows the automatically calculated number of your ovulation day (luteal phase length) based on the entered data.
The program does not automatically change the number of your ovulation day in the calendar because it is up to you to change it or not. To show the calculated day as your ovulation day in the calendar, click Update Calendar in the lower part of the tab
... and enter the new calculated Luteal phase value.
Congratulations, you have calculated your ovulation day and our program have helped you do it! Continue using our program because the ovulation day calculation is only a small part of what it can do.
